Practice backing a trailer into a dockside bay
The marina dock is a corner approach with very little value in rushing the final turn. An equipment locker blocks a direct route, while a mooring post, stored dinghy, and marked dock edge constrain the space around the target. This playable guide focuses on moving the trailer left around the locker and then recovering its heading. You can inspect the same maneuver from overhead and retry it immediately in the free browser simulator above.
Look beyond the equipment locker
Find the dashed bay and its direction arrow, then locate the equipment locker on the approach. Check where the dock edge, mooring post, and stored dinghy sit relative to the finish. Plan for the entire trailer to move around the locker, leaving space to straighten. Select Start practice only after you can identify both the turning area and the place you intend to stop.
Bring the trailer left around the obstruction
Reverse a short distance at a time and watch how the trailer rotates toward the dockside bay. Compare the two blue preview lines with the locker and nearby obstacles. Keep checking the truck's movement as the hitch angle grows. Once the trailer opens a route into the target, begin countersteering so the turn does not continue across the dock edge.
Recover the heading before the final hold
If the trailer points across the bay rather than along its arrow, brake and use a forward correction while there is still space. Resume reversing with a smaller input and watch both rear corners near the post and dinghy. Stop with the whole trailer in the dashed target, aligned and nearly stationary, and let the parking meter complete its one-second hold.
Common mistakes to watch for
Clearing the locker is only the first part of the maneuver. Keeping the same steering input afterward can send the trailer toward the marked water edge. Another common error is watching the near side while the opposite corner approaches the stored dinghy. Use the overhead view to check the whole combination before committing to another reverse interval.
Try it again with one change
Try an attempt where you deliberately pause just after clearing the locker, inspect your heading, and then finish. On the next run, work toward the same alignment with fewer interruptions. This challenge uses a utility trailer and flat ground; it does not simulate launching, tides, dock strength, or real waterside clearances. The boat-ramp course offers another offset alignment exercise when this turn feels repeatable.
