Practice maneuvering a trailer around a fuel island
The fuel-stop challenge is an offset maneuver around a pump island into a service space beside a parked tanker. Its main lesson is to plan the recovery as carefully as the initial turn. The island may be behind the trailer while the truck still needs room to pass it. Use the top-down browser simulator to watch both parts of the combination, pause after a correction, and retry the same approach without needing a download or an account.
Locate the island and final service space
Identify the pump island, parked tanker, safety bollard, and service curb before you move. Find the target arrow and imagine the trailer aligned beside the tanker. The route requires a left shift around the island followed by a return toward the bay heading. Select Start practice after checking where the truck's front will move during that change of direction.
Shift left and begin the recovery
Reverse in short intervals while bringing the trailer left around the pump island. Watch the trailer corners and the truck body throughout the bend. Once there is a route toward the service space, countersteer gradually to recover the angle. Use the blue reverse preview to compare inputs, but keep checking actual obstacle clearance as the rig moves; the preview is only a short steering aid.
Settle beside the tanker
As the trailer enters the service space, check its side nearest the tanker and the opposite edge near the curb. If the remaining space will not accommodate your angle, brake and use a forward pull-up to realign. Bring the whole trailer inside the dashed target without touching the bollard or curb, then brake and hold the aligned position for one second.
Common mistakes to watch for
Passing the pump island with the rear of the trailer does not mean the whole rig has cleared it. An abrupt countersteer can still put another part of the combination into an obstacle. Another mistake is continuing to reverse beside the tanker with a growing hitch angle, hoping the parking space will provide room for a late correction.
Try it again with one change
On a replay, watch the truck first, then replay again while watching the trailer. Identify which body came closest to the island and adjust that part of the approach on your next attempt. This is a static, flat-ground utility-trailer puzzle; it does not model fuel-station operations, moving traffic, or real fueling procedures.
