Your practice stays in your browser.

HitchQuest has no account or application database. Gameplay, scoring, file imports, and replay playback run locally. Importing a file does not upload it.

Website analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand visits and navigation. Google receives page-view and browser/device information and uses analytics cookies to distinguish visits. Loading the Google tag also makes a request to Google from your browser.

Our page-view events include the page title, page address, and referring page address with query strings and fragments removed. We do not send saved progress, custom rig names, imported files, or replay recordings as analytics events. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in our tag configuration.

Analytics cookies are separate from your saved game progress. Clearing progress in Records does not clear cookies; use your browser settings to manage them. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

What the browser saves

When local storage is available, HitchQuest stores settings, up to 10 custom rigs, 50 result summaries, and five recent recordings. The active save is limited to 2 MiB. One original save may also be preserved before replacement or migration. Only HitchQuest-owned keys are changed or cleared.

Progress belongs to this browser profile and site address. Another device, a private window, or a new domain has separate storage. Private browsing or clearing site data may remove it; browser storage limits can prevent saving. Play continues in memory when saving is unavailable.

Manual transfer and deletion

Download progress from Records, then import it in the destination browser. Review and confirm replacement. The page also provides a clear-data action and a download of any preserved original. Clearing HitchQuest data cannot delete copies you downloaded or sent elsewhere.

Links, recordings, and results

Replay and challenge data live in the link fragment after #. Browsers do not send that fragment in the normal HTTP request to the host. Anyone with the complete link or file can read, copy, or forward it. It may remain in browser history, clipboard history, messages, or backups. Copies cannot be revoked.

Shared setups contain rig dimensions and challenge identifiers; replay files also contain control inputs. Progress backups include custom names, settings, results, and retained recordings. Avoid personal information in custom rig names. Results are local and unverified; there is no public leaderboard.

Hosting is separate

The static host may receive ordinary access information such as an IP address, requested page, browser information, and request time, and may keep access or operational logs under its own policies. Those requests are separate from HitchQuest's browser-local progress. We do not claim the host collects nothing.
