Practice backing a trailer between campsite trees
A wooded campsite asks you to think about the space between obstacles as well as the final parking spot. In this course, the trailer bends left around one tree, then right between the next pair into a clearing. The exercise is about changing a developing turn before it becomes too tight. Use the overhead simulator to separate those two bends and watch how much space both the truck and trailer need as their headings change.
Find the route into the clearing
Before selecting Start practice, locate the first tree, the pair beyond it, and the clearing's dashed bay. Notice the rock and far tree too: reaching the clearing does not mean every edge is open. Plan a left bend around the first tree with room remaining for a right bend. A route that barely misses the first obstacle may leave no useful approach to the next gap.
Recover the angle between bends
Reverse in short intervals while watching the trailer sides. As the first bend opens a route toward the gap, start countersteering instead of waiting until you are beside the next tree. The trailer takes distance to change its heading. Watch the hitch-angle gauge alongside the blue preview, and stop if the turn is tightening faster than you can recover it.
Use the clearing to finish the alignment
If you arrive at the second gap sharply folded, use a forward pull-up to reduce the angle and try the approach again. Once through, bring the trailer toward the target arrow while keeping its corners clear of the clearing tree and rock. Brake with the whole body inside the target, aligned and nearly stationary, until the one-second parking hold completes.
Common mistakes to watch for
Treating the two bends as one continuous steering input usually leaves the trailer rotating the wrong way for the second opening. Do not use a tree trunk as a pivot point to squeeze past; contact ends this game attempt. The preview helps you inspect a correction, but it does not account for every real campsite hazard.
Try it again with one change
On your next attempt, choose one reference point near the first tree at which to begin recovering the angle. Replay and compare the gap you leave at the second pair. This utility-trailer exercise models flat ground and visible obstacles, not branches, soft soil, or your own rig's clearances. Try the simpler campsite first if changing direction still feels unpredictable.
